Poetry with Max Preston. The Hillsborough Literary Association and the Burwell School Historic Site presents poet, Max Preston, reading from his recently published book, The Phoenix Collection & Other Poems, on May 1st at 7:30 pm. Preston will include some new poems not included in the book. Admission is $12 per person, which includes wine and desert. All proceeds benefit the programming and preservation of the Burwell School Historic Site, located at 319 North Churton Street in Hillsborough. Historical Foundation of Hillsborough and Orange County's annual dinner. 5:00 p.m. at Ayr Mount with guest speaker Barry Jacobs, author of the new book, "Across the Line: Profiles in Basketball Courage: Tales of the First Black Players in the ACC and SEC." $20 per person; reserve seat by May 10th at the Orange County Historical Museum.
